Brand Activation | Skirball Cultural Center, Los Angeles, CA | Custom Enclosed Photo Booth
“My mom” read one handwritten note beneath a guest’s photo strip. Another credited “my co-workers.” Across the side of our booth, guests’ portraits became small tributes to the people who inspire them.
That personal touch shaped our enclosed photo booth activation for Step Up’s Inspiration Awards at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles. Held on September 25, 2026, the sold-out luncheon, presented by TOMS, celebrated mentorship and women’s empowerment. Our booth featured Step Up’s partnership with luxury haircare brand Kérastase, giving attendees a way to capture their part in the celebration.

Step Up’s mission centers on helping girls and young women through mentorship. The luncheon brought together supporters from entertainment and business, alongside the philanthropic community.
Our brand activation photo booth gave Kérastase a place within that gathering where guests could participate. They could take a photo with someone beside them and put into words who had made a difference in their lives.
With a three-hour operating window, the booth experience needed to be easy to join. It also had to suit Kérastase’s luxury identity while keeping Step Up’s purpose at the heart of the activity.
The “I’m inspired by…” prompt connected those needs. It was short enough to answer in a few words, yet personal enough to give each photo strip its own story.
We installed the enclosed photo booth beside the venue’s windows. Step inside and you’d find dark panels with silver framing for a clean look. Pull the curtain around the seating for privacy, while the checkerboard floor gave the whole thing a retro feel.
Guests could step inside for photos and pick up their prints from the front outlet. The side panel provided a separate place to display the finished strips.
Step Up and Kérastase appeared together on the exterior panel and the booth’s screen. Matching logos topped each photo strip, with three frames underneath and room for a handwritten response at the bottom.
This approach to customizing a photo booth for an event kept the partnership visible from the first interaction through to the finished keepsake. The restrained black-and-white design also left plenty of room for guests’ expressions to stand out.
The finished strips show solo portraits alongside pairs and small groups. Guests leaned into the frame together, changing expressions from shot to shot. The display featured both color and black-and-white photos.
After their sessions, guests could complete the “I’m inspired by…” line. Responses included “sisterhood” and “the women here!” Displayed together, the strips gave others something to stop and read, adding a shared activity outside the curtain.
Printed strips gave guests something tangible to keep or contribute to the display. Text delivery and downloads also let them save a digital version.
The report recorded 50 text shares and 24 downloads. The report counted those 74 digital sharing actions separately from the 88 prints.
The activation’s report recorded 270 individual images across 90 sessions, along with 74 photo views. It also logged 50 lead records.
Here’s what those numbers tell us:
The captured data can help guide follow-up with contacts who opted in to hear more. Depending on the permission provided, relevant messages could introduce future Step Up events or Kérastase content. Tracking clicks and resulting registrations would help the team plan its next brand activation around what guests responded to.
The handwritten responses connected the booth directly to the luncheon’s purpose. Guests could recognize someone important to them, and their answers became part of a display other attendees could enjoy.
That made the experiential marketing feel relevant to the room. Kérastase’s branding stayed attached to an activity rooted in the relationships Step Up was there to celebrate.
